Topic A: Access to Safe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
Topic B: Universal Health Coverage
Despite years of debate, the international community is nowhere near guaranteeing safe water, proper hygiene, or universal healthcare access to essential services. Waterborne diseases are devastating vulnerable communities; sanitation systems don’t receive enough funding, all the while many are at the crossroads of receiving necessary medical support or avoiding financial ruin. None of these problems has a simple fix, and that’s precisely why this committee matters.
Here, you, as a student, are stepping into a space where the usual barriers don’t apply. You don’t have to worry about bureaucracy, elections, or ministries dragging their feet. You get to think the way real delegates wish they could: creatively, boldly, and without being boxed in by geopolitical debates. Whether you’re addressing the failures that allow unsafe water to persist or determining what true Universal Health Coverage should look like, your job is to imagine what cooperation could look like if we removed all the excuses. The world is waiting for people who are willing to stand up and continue the WHO’s efforts. Will you be one of them?

My name is Noah George, and I am honoured to return as the Director of the World Health Organization committee for a second year.
This is my fourth year in Model UN, and I have had the privilege of attending several conferences across North America. In addition, as the Vice-President of Crescent School’s Model UN team, I look forward to fostering a passion for MUN among delegates and helping each of you grow your research, debate, and diplomacy skills.
I cannot wait to explore the critical role the World Health Organization plays in the well-being of our communities. Engaging with diverse issues such as access to drinking water and universal health coverage through diplomatic debate provides a meaningful lens in examining the impact of international cooperation on day-to-day healthcare.
Whether this is your first conference or you are a seasoned Model UN delegate, I hope you will find CSMUN IV to be a memorable experience.
