World Health Organization
(WHO)
Topic A: Global Response to Infectious Diseases
Topic B: Vaccinations and Resistance
In 1948, the world was still healing from war. Entire countries were broken, millions of lives had been lost, and the fear of disease hung high. Leaders from across the globe came together in Geneva, holding on to one powerful idea. They believed that health should be a right, not a privilege. Their vision was that everyone deserved a chance at a healthy life. Out of this hope, the World Health Organization was created. It wasn’t just another agency, but a promise to fight for humanity itself and protect what matters most.
But today, that promise is tested more than ever. Pandemics can spread across the world in weeks. False information can do as much harm as disease. Communities are torn apart not by sickness, but by fear, poverty, and inequality in healthcare. The real dangers are real and they are rising. Yet, the spirit that created the WHO is still alive. The world is waiting for people who are willing to stand up and continue that fight. Will you be one of them?
Note from the Director
“Medical science has proven time and again that when the resources are provided, great progress in the treatment, cure, and prevention of disease can occur.” — Michael J. Fox
My name is Noah George, and I am honoured to serve as your chair for the committee of World Health Organization.
This is my third year in Model UN, and I have attended several conferences across North America. Alongside being your chair, I am serving as the USG of Logistics for CSMUN III. I can’t wait to delve into the unique importance and role that the World Health Organization play in the well-being of our communities. Exploring the importance of disease prevention through debate and diplomacy offers a unique perspective on the future that medicine is moving to. I have attended several conferences in North America, and I hope that I can make CSMUN your most memorable conference. I look forward to a dynamic and engaging debate!
Sincerely,
Noah George
