The True North Strong and Free:
The Canadian House of Commons
Topic A: Building One Canadian Economy
Topic B: Rearming Canada's Military
Canada stands at a defining moment. An active trade war continues to simmer, new negotiations threaten to reshape the nation’s economic destiny, and urgent calls for bold infrastructure and investment projects demand action. Abroad, shifting diplomatic relationships and deepening commitments to Canada’s armed forces—and to the North Atlantic defence partnership—push the country onto a global stage in crisis. At home, the fragile balance of a minority government makes every decision more high-stakes, every vote more critical.

Delegates will step into the shoes of Members of Parliament, tasked with steering Canada through turbulent waters. You will debate Canada’s toughest challenges, defend its people, and craft solutions that could alter the future of the country itself. With a unique blend of Canadian Parliamentary Procedure and the traditions of the Commons, delegates will experience the thrill of negotiation, the drama of politics, and the intensity of decision-making in the legendary green chamber!
Note from the Director
The world of Canadian politics is often viewed from the green chamber, and in many ways, its dynamic Question Period, sharing the perspectives of Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Excitingly, delegates tackling Canadian issues are afforded the empowerment to find and create solutions for our time and for the future we will inherit.
Welcome to CSMUN III! My name is Simon Rabinovitch and I am honoured to serve as your Director for the Canadian House of Commons Committee. This is my fourth year in Model UN, and I have the privilege of serving as the President of the Model UN Team here at Crescent. I am really excited to get back on the dais after helping lead CSMUN II as Deputy Secretary General. I have always been interested in the House of Commons and the opportunities it gives to delegates to engage with national issues in a fun and unique environment. I look forward to the dynamic drama of Canadian politics and engaging debate with you all!
